Responsible Alcohol Management Program
Pennsylvania has a Responsible Alcohol Management Program ("RAMP"). This training may be ordered by a judge for violations. Non-RAMP training is not subject to state regulation. RAMP consists of a five (5)-part program: New Employee Orientation, Alcohol Server/Seller Training, Manager/Owner Training and certification compliance. Licensees’ compliance with the Responsible Alcohol Management Program can be a mitigating factor in a subsequent citation (1st offense) for sales to minors or visibly intoxicated persons. While the program is otherwise voluntary, a judge may order a licensee to comply with the Responsible Alcohol Management for up to a year, if the licensee has been found to have sold alcohol to minors or a visibly intoxicated person.
